I really like it a lot and I love having the hunting & fishing regulations & lake fish size limits right at my fingertips. "BUT" it can be hard to find some things. For example: The age of your black bear, or the document for my grandson's citation bluegill. (Which by the way, I still have not found so I can print it off for him.) A recent update has made the license image unreadable due to its small size. It was previously working fine. I know it's surprising that a government agency would mess up something that was working well, but hey.... it's so hard to read now that I question its usefulness. Also, the app is named "GoOutdoorsVA" but would better be named "GoHunt&FishVA" since its really only aimed at people who are hunting or fishing (or boating, which is commonly associated with fishing...). Previous versions did a good job at giving license information, and I used the app last year to check in deer and to buy a license, so it worked for that, but it's not an app for hiking or birding, for example -- which are other reasons that people go outdoors. So it should be properly named, and readable.

Great convenience to access all the information on hunting fishing boating regulations. Love the feeding time chart. Plus being able to have all license in digital form takes some bulk out of the wallet! My only dislike is how much the cost to hunt and fish has gone up in last 30 years not to see a significant management of the waters and forests we hunt. Everything is still as it was 30+ years ago. Mainly in Shenandoah and Frederick Counties. Trout stocking isn't a great as it was either.

I kinda love this app. I would absolutely love it if it wasn't mostly geared towards freshwater fishing. Let me explain... if you go in to the fishing section of the app, it's completely about freshwater and nowhere is there saltwater fishing. Same goes for the fish species... all freshwater. That doesn't work for me since 90% of my angling is saltwater. Therefore I can only give it 3 stars. If saltwater was included it would easily be 5 stars since the app is extremely useful otherwise.

This app was working fine until this passed week. Trying to tag a deer and it kept flashing and saying refreshing. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Was able to tag the deer but not without a lot of aggravating moves. Definitely a glitch that needs to be addressed immediately considering it's right in the middle of hunting season.

Barely useful. Having all the regulations in single huge PDF is a HORRIBLE idea. It's a cop out to make develpers' lives easy, but sucks for users. THINK about it! Users are hunting and fishing, and that doesn't always happen where there is a strong signal that allows you to download a gigantic PDF. And the format of the PDF is not phone friendly. STUPID decision and horrible user experience! Do better.

Great app!!! Idea for improvement... put a calendar on the app with all of the seasons, open amd close days. Allow us to receive notifications and program the calendar to send out reminders about upcoming opening days.

App freezes on selection of a location on map for either tides or seas. Used to work just fine until after app apparently updated. (Little powerboat symbol in menu on bottom of screen has changed to a sailboat). Clearing data, cache, reinstall does not fix. Please fix, as this is a goto app for me.

Great app. Makes checking game easier than using the call in checking. Now if they could lower the price of nonresident license. Grew up in Virginia but moved to Tennessee to get closer to work and think both states could do better on the price of their nonresident license.

The app opens and seems to work fine until I click add license. It says it needs an internet connection. My phone's 4g has 4 bars and it's connected to excellent wifi. All I want is to add a VA fishing license. As it is now the app is unusable for that.

The latest update renders the app unopenable. Worked great last year, now i cant access. I want to fish but im worried that i have no way to show im legit. I downloaded my permit to show on the water as needed. I have an older phone and was a little salty due to a family fishing excursion coming up. If the app works on newer phone definatly get it, ill try downloading again later

This app was great 5 stars but here recently it wont open. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times with no luck on opening the app. Not sure what is going on but until it's fixed I wouldn't wast your space with it. Hopefully it gets fixed soon. I've reported it twice now but still not working. PLEASE FIX APP.

Can't find my lifetime license with info directly from the license. Fire the developer and get my tax dollars back.. Posted this in April 2017, a year + later the developer replies that it's fixed. NOPE, still not finding my Virginia Lifetime Fishing License. Good greef DGIF if you are going to waste time and resources on an app why not have one that works as advertised. The current one isn't making the grade. Still a 1 star effort.

Screw you Virginia. Your stupid app that I purchase my licenses through is a piece of garbage. I opened it to ensure I had proper licensure and was alerted that my app was "out of date" so I initiated an update. I got the same notice after updating. I then uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Same difference. A fresh install and I can't navigate the app. What are we doing here? Its a shame because the dgif is one of the few state institutions that is reliable and helpful.

The old version was much easier and more information. This app is dorected to the dgif website, and is much more difficult to find what you want. The only thing that is a good idea, is having your license info here Yes the new version is perfect.

This was a 5 star app until they said update available. DO NOT update this app if you like what you have. After the update it has lost my profile completely. When I search for it it say can not be found. When I try to resubmit my information it goes well until I put in my email address then it tells me that it's invalid. No support that I can find to fix this. So I will say again DO NOT update this app. It's a trap. ***Updated review. After talking with the support team it was a very quick fix.

Some of the app features dont work.#1 cant scroll down to see add licence to profile or sync.#2 when you try to click your licence it shows up big with only name but no info on it.app was better last year.This year not working right.And yes im using a Samsung smart phone.

Easy and convenient, but it won't display the actual license when you click the license under View License. In the past you were able to click the license and it would display the paper copy along with all the notched tags. Be great to have this function again.
